Raising up preachers for tomorrow.
Model, explain, and train people in expository preaching.
Encourage lay preaching within Melbourne churches.
Xpose preaching conference is borne out of several convictions. Overarching them all is the belief that God speaks by his Spirit, through his word, to reveal himself in his Son. This means preaching is an exciting and very important task as it is one of the primary means by which us humans hear from, encounter and experience the living God.
This has several important implications:
Preaching reflects, and strongly influences the health of the Church.
If we want a healthy church it is vital that we have great preaching: If the gospel is the foundation of the church, and if preaching is a primary way in which the gospel is communicated, it makes no sense for a healthy church to spring from poor or even mediocre preaching.
Great preaching is nothing less than expository preaching.
Expository preaching seeks to proclaim the whole counsel of God, revealed in the Bible, by relating precisely what a text or passage says. To make it even clearer: An expository message gets its main points and its sub-points directly from the text.
Great preaching starts with the commitment to be an expositor of God's word and that's what Xpose conference is designed to encourage, hence the name!
Xpose preaching conference is the baby of Murray Campbell and Stu White. We both earn our living from gospel service: Murray as the pastor of a Mentone Baptist Church and Stu as a worker with students at Monash Uni employed by AFES.
We have both had the privilege of hearing and being transformed by great preaching and are thankful to God for this gift to his church. Having this shared experienced, as well as a biblically driven conviction of its importance, we naturally want to see more preachers raised up to arrest our hearts and minds through God's gospel. We hope and pray God uses Xpose to that end.
